Shelter is an online platform that lists various properties for rent, including apartments, houses, townhouses, and other forms of residential real estate. The website typically includes property descriptions, photos, floor plans, and information about the location and nearby amenities. The ultimate goal of shelter is to connect potential renters with rental properties that meet their needs and preferences.

Project Overview
The Problem
Difficulty in finding properties that match user’s specific requirements.
The goal
Design an website for shelter that will improve user experience and help users finding the perfect home easily.
My Role
UI/ UX DESIGNER designing an website for Shelter from conception to Finding Properties.
Responsiblities
Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs.

To better understand the users I'm creating for and their needs, I conducted interviews and produced empathy maps. People having difficulty in finding properties that match their specific requirements was one of the main user groups discovered through research.

However, study also showed that consumers' inability to find a proper home was not just due to specific requirements. This user group verified the initial hypotheses regarding Shelter clients. Other customer issues included Inaccurate or outdated information on the website, Slow response time from property owners,
Hidden fees or charges associated with the rental process.

What I learned
The most important thing I took away from this experience was to constantly consider the user's genuine needs while creating design thoughts and solutions.
Impact
The design was easy to browse, more engaging with the graphics, and showed a distinct visual hierarchy, according to our target audience.
